Originally planned as a pre-Festival event back in April, this walk was a victim of New England springtime weather, so we’re trying it again to close out our Festival month!
Get out and shoot! Join photographer Jim Rohan for an in-person, hands-on, lo-fi photography workshop on the streets of Somerville.
Bring your favorite lo-fi camera (Holga, Diana, crappy film point&shoot, etc) and your choice of color or black&white film.*
We'll learn a bit about "toy camera" aesthetics and see a selection of Jim’s work, before setting out on a shooting adventure. On the street, Jim will share plenty of tips for getting the best photos from the humblest of image-making equipment.
Join us for the free event — meet at 11am on Saturday, 9/27, in the gallery at Washington Street Art Center, 321 Washington St, Somerville (outside Union Square). Walking route TBD, but expect a total distance of ~2 miles or less.
*If the day is bright and sunny, choose a lower ISO film -- 50, 100, or 160. On cloudy days, a film with 400 or 800 ISO will generally yield better results.
